Introducing the Latest Cohort on our Digital Service Design Programme

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been promoting a new 6-month Digital Service Design Programme. We invited third sector organisations in Wales to apply. We’re now happy to reveal the successful applicants working to improve their service using digital.

We were  impressed with the applications received, and five incredible organisations were offered a place. These organisations have already attended the kick-off webinar, their first step on this digital change journey.

Here are the organisations that we’re excited to be working with:

Brynawel Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centre

Brynawel Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centre is a 24 bedded residential rehabilitation centre in Llanharan, South Wales. The charity has a 47 year history of providing rehabilitation for adults with substance use disorder. It is the leading residential centre for the treatment of alcohol and drug dependencies in Wales.

They want to extend their online service as a whole, particularly around their After-Care Community, and Family Support Service.

“Our challenge is to find a way to bring a part of this service online so that it can benefit people nationally and not just those who are local and geographically able to attend,” says Gordon Young, Recovery Worker at Brynawel Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centre.

Velindre Cancer Charity

The Velindre Cancer Charity is the official charity of the Velindre Cancer Centre. They provide specialist cancer services to over 1.5 million people across the South Wales East area, and beyond.

Velindre wants to explore how to streamline complex processes in managing their Grants and Legacy services, as well as how service design can enhance the development of a new Major Donor Programme.

“We hope that this course will help us to streamline our current process and learn about tools that could help us to establish a user-friendly, transparent, and efficient system that enhances the donor experience, improves internal processes, and ultimately increases the number and value of legacy gifts received,”  says Emma Prince, Regional Fundraising and Engagement Manager at Velindre Cancer Charity.

Conwy Mind

Connwy Mind is a Conwy-based independent mental health charity, as part of the Mind Network.

They work with their community to challenge stigma and discrimination associated with mental health, and promote the delivery of inclusive services.

Conwy Mind are exploring how Service Design can help them in the development of a user-friendly digital system, aiming to transform how people access mental health support.

“By integrating digital triage into our website, we will make accessing mental health support faster, clearer, and more effective. Instead of wasting staff hours on administrative tasks, our teams will be able to focus on delivering impactful mental health interventions,” says Paul Williams, Team Lead at Conwy Mind.

Blue Cross

Blue Cross is an animal welfare charity providing homes, veterinary care, expert behavioural help, and advice around pets in need.

They are exploring a digital solution to improving relinquisher access to Blue Cross, to make contact, rehome, and match people with suitable pets.

“[Doing this] to remain relevant and to continue to be recognised as one of the leading pet welfare charities. We also need to evolve our service delivery to incorporate digital capability,” says Jane Clements, Head of Strategy, Rehoming, and Fostering at Blue Cross.

Welsh Refugee Council

The Welsh Refugee Council is an organisation that has provided specialist support for refugees in Wales for over 35 years.

They are currently looking at transforming their website into a dynamic, accessible, and user-friendly platform, to ensure individuals can quickly and easily access the support they need.

“Through this programme, we seek to completely rethink and redesign our digital presence,” says Athina Summerbell, Head of Communications, Engagement, and Policy at the Welsh Refugee Council.

Discover

These five organisations are currently in the Discovery phase of their service design journey. They will conduct a piece of Discovery research and explore their digital challenges in more detail. This will involve engaging with service users, gathering insights and gaining an in-depth understanding of their needs. We look forward to seeing their digital solutions develop and excited to work with and support them on their journey.

Pob lwc!
