Free Mental Health Training in Gwent
Let’s face it: talking about mental health can sometimes feel a bit… awkward. But it doesn’t have to be!
In fact, having open and supportive conversations is incredibly important for our wellbeing. That’s why the Mind Our Future Gwent project is stepping up, offering free, interactive training sessions to help both professionals and young people in Gwent gain the skills and confidence to have these important chats.

For professionals: Enhance your support for young people
Do you work with young people in Gwent? Our “Mental Health Conversations Workshop” is tailor-made for you. It’s a two-hour interactive session available both online and in person. It was developed with and is delivered by young people themselves! That means you’re getting real-world, authentic perspectives on how to support young people in ways they actually find helpful.
What you’ll gain:
- A deeper understanding of young people’s mental health and wellbeing
- Practical tools to approach mental health conversations with greater confidence
- The chance to participate in hands-on activities and receive real-time feedback, ensuring you leave feeling better prepared
This workshop is ideal for anyone working with young people, including school teachers, youth workers, sports coaches, and after-school club facilitators.
If this sounds like the right fit for you or your team, book your free session!

For young people: Build confidence in supporting yourself and your friends
Want to get a more acceptable handle on mental health, whether it’s for yourself or to lend a hand to your mates? Our free, two-hour interactive sessions are unique because they’re delivered by young people, for young people. That means it’s a totally safe and supportive space where you can learn, share, and build real confidence in talking about mental health. No awkward silences, just genuine conversations and practical skills.
In this workshop, you’ll explore:
- What mental health truly means
- How open conversations help break down stigma
- How to recognise when someone might need support and how to offer it
- Activities and role-play to supercharge your listening and communication skills
- Important concepts like trust, setting boundaries, and understanding confidentiality to help you feel more prepared to talk about mental health with your friends
This session is ideal for young people aged 14 to 25, living in Gwent.
Whether you’re supporting a friend you care about or just want to learn more, this session will provide you with the tools you need to have open and supportive conversations about mental health and wellbeing.
We’d love to have you on board! Book your free session for you and your friends, or ask a teacher or youth worker you know to book one for your group.
