DigiCymru
Free, friendly, one-to-one digital support for third sector organisations in Wales.
Good news: DigiCymru is here to stay
DigiCymru began as part of a three-year programme funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. That funding has now come to an end – but the service hasn’t.
DigiCymru proved so valuable to organisations across Wales that we made a simple decision: keep it going. As a social enterprise, ProMo Cymru reinvests the profits we generate back into the communities we serve, and we’re using that to continue offering DigiCymru. No other service in Wales does quite what DigiCymru does, and we weren’t about to let it disappear.
So, whatever your digital challenge, the door is still open.
Who can access it?
DigiCymru is for the Welsh third sector. You’re welcome if you’re a:
- Charity
- Non-profit organisation
- Social enterprise (you must have an asset lock, or be a CIC with an asset lock)
- Community or voluntary group (you don’t have to be a registered organisation)
From micro community groups to national charities, organisations of every size have used DigiCymru.

What can DigiCymru help with?
We give you practical, jargon-free support with the digital side of your work, including:
- Getting to grips with digital tools and understanding which ones are right for you
- Building, using and improving your own tools, so you can do things yourself rather than paying for them
- Technical troubleshooting when something just won’t work
- Using AI responsibly to save time on everyday tasks
DigiCymru has helped organisations to set up Facebook Ads, create digital forms, make sense of Google Analytics, build a database, choose between Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, get started on TikTok safely, and much more.
If it’s something we can’t help with, we’ll do our best to point you towards someone who can.
How it works
Booking is quick and the support is built around you, not a script.
- Book a slot that suits you.
- Tell us about your digital challenge.
- Meet a digital expert from the ProMo team, one to one, online.
There’s no catch and no price tag, just helpful, tailored advice from people who know the sector.
Two ways to get support
Free 1-hour sessions – open to everyone.
Any eligible organisation can book a free one-hour session with one of our digital experts. It’s the perfect way to talk through a challenge, get clear next steps, and leave more confident about your digital choices.
In-depth support through your funder.
We know that real change often takes more than an hour. That’s why we’re working with funders who want to give their grantees deeper digital support up to five hours of one-to-one help per organisation, enough to move from advice to hands-on implementation. If your funding programme includes DigiCymru, you’ll be told how to access it. (Funders: see below.)
Why DigiCymru is different
DigiCymru isn’t generic digital advice. It’s:
- Bilingual and proudly Welsh – built for the Welsh third sector, in Welsh and English, drawing on more than 25 years of ProMo Cymru’s experience in digital delivery.
- Relationship-based, not transactional – we get to know your organisation and meet you where you are.
- Strengths-based – we start from what you already do brilliantly and help you with the digital part.
- Trusted across the sector – organisations reach us through partners including WCVA, Cwmpas, CVCs and others, because there’s no equivalent service in Wales.
“It’s unusual to have a service where you can just go and ask a question.”
“That sort of bespoke approach, answering questions about what specifically you need and being able to signpost you to the appropriate people, is so valuable.”
The difference it makes
Over three years, DigiCymru supported 169 organisations across Wales through 331 one-to-one sessions. When we asked them how it went:
- 83% rated the service Excellent (a further 15% Very Good)
- 95% felt more confident using digital tools afterwards
- 100% came away more aware of good digital practice
An independent evaluation rated DigiCymru’s process, impact and value for money as exceeding expectations, and estimated that around two-thirds of organisations went on to deliver positive social or environmental impact through their improved digital effectiveness.
“I found the sessions extremely useful in building my understanding of the different options and opportunities for data collection and reporting. This has helped me to put reporting mechanisms in place which will help to inform our future approach.”
“The service provided a great sounding board and onward advice on what I needed to do to ensure we have sustainable digital support going forward.”
“Fantastic innovation, great services, great culture, great bunch.”
Real organisations, real change
The Venture (Wrexham) swapped a paper sign-in process and 150 forms entered by hand to a free digital system, solving their reporting, safety and data challenges in one go.
All Wales People First set up a TikTok account to amplify the voice of people with learning disabilities, with hands-on guidance on creating videos and staying safe online.
Moss Rose Cottage (Cardiff) recovered hundreds of mislaid work files so that its founder can now share everything properly with her first paid member of staff from day one.
